U Will B Casted Out When U Dun Cherish D Chances Given...

The title above was my thou for today....

Well, basically something did happen to make me come out with this kinda of statement.

Yesterday, my junior programmer, S sudd sms L and said tat she needs to take urgent leave. She even called up my admin, Y to ask her to offset her polling day leave which we ea have a day to clear by end of June. L was super buisong and he called up S, asking her why she is on urgent leave. S told him tat she is goin to the hospital to see her review. Actually, L had been very unhappy with S performance for the past 3 pluz cos of her frequent MCs, leaves and coming to office late. L had actually prolonged her probation period from 3 mths to 4 mths and had even told her that she is not supposed to take leaves and must be punctual. But still, she still cont her own way... Somehow, L requested S to come bk to office in the office cos the review is nt goin to take a long time. Surprizingly, she nv came bk to office for the whole day. Worst still, she nv even give a call bk.

Today is even worst, she went mia the whole day and no matter how many times we called, she nv even picked up the phone. To us, we do not even know what had happened to her, even if she is hospitalized, she shld have give a phone call to inform us.

During the late morning, L talked to me and said that he had decided to let S leave the Co. He felt that she had not been performing well, lotz of bottlenecks at her side and her work attitude really cmi.... Actually, I do agree to what he had mentioned... Then he told me that he would try to get a replacement asap and asked me and ahhuang to help out with the projects for the time being. Well, we are ok to help out since things had come to this stage. but of cos, L better find a replacement soon. Else both of us would not b able to juggle so many things for the time being.

During conversation, L mentioned to me that eventually, he would want me to focus more on analysis work and reduce my programming workload...I am quite happy to hear that cos it will means that i am slowly moving to another stage and that is analyst. This is the path that i want to move on and i feel that my current co will be able to let me grow as well.

Anyway, ahhuang finally got hold of S while we were walking to the MRT and according to her, S also have no intention to carry on working already and she just sent an email to my boss. ahhuang asked her why she wanna leave and she said that she feel that she cannot learn anything and the jobs here are too much for her to handle already.

Well, since she said it this way, then no pt to keep her also... Even if she wanna stay, i dun think my co will keep her also. althou young and inmatured. but at her age of 22 or 23, she shld be old enough to know what she shld do and what she shld not do. Like tampering with her MCs is really a No No!!! Somehow, i told ahhuang that if S can make it for lunch with us, then i will really wanna talk some sense into her.. Even thou, she will no longer be in our team, but i still hope that she will go to another company as a better person. A person with integrity and responsibility...

From this experience I can see that some ppl really aren't cut to do software development.. in this case of S, she don't really have the passion to do her job well, yet complain that there is nothing for her to learn... guess next round ur boss will choose more wisely when getting a junior programmer..

take care on that extra workload.

Regards,
Lihong
